Who Took the Cookie From the Cookie Jar? – English kids song

London Bridge is Falling Down “Who?” Practicing English rhythm.
Children will learn the “Who …” question and answer patterns from the song. After they have learned the patterns  they can use it to ask other the “Who …” questions.

Step 1

Learn the song, “Who Took the Cookie?”

Focus on the rhythm of the chant.

Who took the cookie from the cookie jar?

[Tanja] took the cookie from the cookie jar.

Who me?

Yes you!

Not me!

Then who?

Troy!

Step 2

Now try singing “Who Took the Cookie?”

(Circle Time Version) with your students.

Sit in a circle, and sing the song with your own names.

Make a simple cookie out of cardboard, or use a coaster.

Once the students know the song, try it without the music.

Have a student hide the cookie near someone.

Choose one student to start with. Keep going until you find the cookie.

You can sing this song faster or slower or in a whisper.
