English adverb is a part of speech that describes a manner of an object, its qualities or conditions.

According to the structure of the English adverbs there is:

1. Simple adverb, which consists only of a word root.

  • Late

  • I am writing now.
  • He sings well.

2. Derived adverb, which is formed with prefixes and suffixes.

  • Lately
  • Badly
  • Quickly
  • He runs quickly.
  • He was badly wounded.

3. Compound adverb, which consists of several word roots.

  • Everywhere
  • Sometimes
  • There was blood everywhere.
  • Sometimes they drink too much.

4. Composite adverb, which consists of several words.

  • For ever
  • All of a sudden
  • At first
  • By all means
  • As far as
